As I’ve started a course in Digital Marketing, and the biggest question asked to me is, “What is that?”
A quick Google search will tell you Digital Marketing is the use of the Internet, mobile devices, social media, search engines, and other channels to reach consumers.
OK, but really, what is it? Well, think of it this way. If I am selling an idea or a product how am I going to sell it? How am I going to get the consumer to know of my product and want to buy it? We would use new media products like Facebook, Twitter, Websites, and emails to help push what our product is and how to get it. But it can still include your traditional methods such as TV, radio, billboards, and magazines.
There are two types of ways that Digital Marketing is done. These are referred to as Outbound and Inbound marketing.
-
Outbound pushes out a message to a specific target audience. Such things as visual display banners or billboards (commercials)
-
Inbound pulls the audience towards your content. Grabbing an audience that is already interested in your product. Creating content that people are drawn to (which is very important in Digital Marketing)
